Cedric Rimaud
Cedric has worked in global fixed income and debt capital markets for more than 25 years, and in sustainable/green finance over the last ten years. Spending the bulk of his career across trading, fund management and credit research, Cedric served from 2023 to early 2026 as Managing Director in the Sustainability Advisory department at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in Tokyo, covering transition financing for fossil fuel assets and green climate solutions in the Power/Energy and Utilities sectors. Previous to SMBC, he built a broad green finance advisory and research career spanning the Climate Bonds Initiative, the Anthropocene Fixed Income Institute, and First Degree Global Asset Management, also in green and sustainable finance.
Cedric left credit trading and fund management in the mid-2000s to move into credit research and, later, sustainable finance, and since 2018 has worked as a specialist consultant and advisor across the sector, taking on long-term assignments primarily with multilateral and policy institutions (ADB, ICMA, UNDP, PwC/FCDO) on various aspects of the sustainable finance market ranging from taxonomy design to technical assistance and training for financial institutions and government officials across Asia and Africa.
Cedric has substantial experience in the green bond market, from launching a dedicated green bond fund and leading corporate client engagements on debut green issuances (in Mongolia, Fiji, Philippines, Indonesia) through to co-authoring the SLB Handbook and contributing to the drafting of Nepal's national green finance taxonomy. He has worked with a number of issuers and central banks on structuring, marketing and taxonomy design as the market has developed.
Cedric has broad fixed income experience working as a credit derivatives trader, a global fixed income fund manager ($15bn AUM), a quantitative researcher in portfolio construction, and a credit analyst covering European high yield and emerging market corporates in Asia and Latin America. He holds CFA charter from the CFA Institute and an Executive MBA from Tsinghua-INSEAD and a Master in Finance from London Business School.
