Overview
This webinar on 11th December 2024 discussed the role of commercial paper in the sustainable finance market.
The sustainable commercial paper market is potentially worth up to EUR 300 billion based on ICMA’s estimates.
Although considerably smaller than the sustainable bond market, noticeable progress has been made in recent years, and developments in the space have demonstrated a growing recognition of its potential to play a more active role in issuers’ overall sustainable finance strategies and the transition towards a sustainable economy, while providing flexible funding options.
Following a presentation on the findings in ICMA’s recent paper,” The role of commercial paper in the sustainable finance market”, our speakers debated the future of commercial paper as an important short-term funding mechanism in support of an issuer’s sustainability strategy.
Speakers were:
- Katie Kelly, Senior Director, Market Practice & Regulatory Policy, ICMA
- Arthur Krebbers, Managing Director, Head of Corporate Climate & ESG Capital Markets, NatWest Commercial and Institutional
- Giovanni Niero, Head of Capital Markets, Development and ECA Financing, Enel
- Geeta Sharma, Global Head of Sustainable Cash Investments, BlackRock
There was an opportunity to ask questions after the panel.
